She is a strong advocate of skin protection, and is committed to educating her patients \u2013 and others \u2013 on the importance of avoiding the midday sun, using sunscreen regularly, and wearing protective clothing when possible.<\/p>\n Because much of Hawaii\u2019s population lives on neighbor islands with very limited access to specialty health care, she believes DirectDerm<\/strong> provides a much-needed service in the region.<\/p>\n \u201cThe high cost of transportation could prevent some patients from traveling to Honolulu to see a skin specialist.
