“I chose dermatology because it is a highly visual field where the physical exam plays a central role in diagnosis and treatment. I value the opportunity to care for patients of all ages and backgrounds, building relationships across a wide spectrum of needs. Dermatology also allows me to combine the intellectual challenges of medicine with the hands-on skill of surgery, offering a uniquely balanced and fulfilling practice,” he explains.
Outside the Clinic
Outside of work, Dr. Hester enjoys music, attending concerts, playing the drums, staying active, and following Michigan football.

- While at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, for his undergraduate studies, he was recognized as an ‘Outstanding Student of the College of Natural Sciences’ by faculty vote.
- Before pursuing medicine, Dr. Hester spent time as a high school chemistry teacher, an experience that deepened his appreciation for science and education.
- Dr. Hester is also a clinical faculty member in Ann Arbor, where he is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care while mentoring the next generation of dermatologists.
