QUALITY CARE

Are photographs of my skin condition sufficient for the dermatologist?
DirectDerm’s highly experienced, board-certified dermatologists have treated thousands of patients and all types of skin conditions with very high accuracy using teledermatology. In the unusual cases that our dermatologists find that the photographs are insufficient, we may request additional photographs or facilitate a dermatologist appointment in person.
It’s a weekend. Can I still use DirectDerm? When will I get results?
DirectDerm is available 24/7/365. You can send your information and pictures from anywhere at any time and get an accurate diagnosis and complete treatment plan in 48 hours, usually less.
How qualified are DirectDerm doctors?
You can be confident that the DirectDerm doctor who reviews your case is a highly experienced, board-certified dermatologist. They all are. They trained at the top U.S. medical institutions, such as Stanford and Harvard, and many remain involved in research and teaching at these institutions. My child has a skin condition. Can DirectDerm help?
Absolutely. All DirectDerm dermatologists are highly trained in the skin conditions of children, including newborns, infants, adolescents and teenagers, and some have subspecialty training as pediatric dermatologists.
What if I need a biopsy, or a serious skin condition is diagnosed?
DirectDerm is a great option for someone who might have a serious skin issue and doesn’t have time to wait weeks or months to be seen. If one of our expert dermatologists sees a potentially serious problem, such as skin cancer, we will help arrange expedited care with a health care provider in your area for any needed biopsies and exams. With our referral, diagnostic findings and recommendations, your local dermatologist will be prepared to offer follow-up care without delay.
What about prescriptions?
The report you receive from DirectDerm will provide a diagnosis and an easy-to-understand treatment plan with recommendations for medications when needed. We’ll electronically transmit prescriptions to your local pharmacy or offer suggestions for over-the-counter medications – or both – to help you get the most effective treatment and best value.
After the initial consultation, will I be able to ask follow-up questions?
Yes, your report will include the name of the dermatologist who personally reviewed your case. You will receive a full report and explanation, but follow-up questions are welcome.

Our Medical Service

How long does it take to get a response from a DirectDerm dermatologist?
Within 48 hours, usually less, you will receive the full report from the dermatologist. This will include your diagnosis, a course of action and recommendations for medications, if needed. Appropriate prescriptions will be electronically transmitted to your local pharmacy.
When should I use your service?
Have a worrisome mole, freckle, rash or even something larger? If you or a member of your family has a non-urgent skin condition – no matter how large or small – a DirectDerm consultation can quickly provide answers, treatment plans and referrals when needed. Instead of waiting weeks or months to be seen by a local dermatologist, you have access to board-certified experts right away. Contact DirectDerm:
When you’d like a dermatologist to evaluate a skin condition.
When you need a dermatologist without delay.
When you have a skin problem and can’t take time off work or school.
When a skin problem needs quick attention but not emergency care.
When you need a second opinion or your current treatment isn’t working.
When weather conditions, a remote location or young children in your home make it hard to travel for care.
When you’re on vacation or away from home.
When you’d like an explanation and treatment options for a skin condition.
When you need an alternative to urgent care centers, which rarely have board-certified specialists.
When you’d like to have a lower-cost alternative to urgent care centers.
Why should I use DirectDerm?
There are four big reasons to use DirectDerm: time, convenience, expertise and peace of mind. With DirectDerm, you don’t have to wait weeks or months to have your skin condition examined by a board-certified dermatologist. You don’t even have to leave home to get a diagnosis and treatment plan. Instead of waiting and worrying, you get answers right away.
